Short-pulse Lasers: Applications and Materials group (SLAM), led by Prof. Manek-Hönninger is well-know for their expertise in laser-matter interaction in the pico- and femtosecond regime in single-pulse or burst mode with a strong focus on glass and semiconductor processing.
They coordinate the consortium and leads fundamental research on laser–silicon interaction.

Ultrafast laser science
Photonic and Ultrafast Laser Sciences (PULS), a chair from from Ruhr University Bochum, holds multiple records in high-power ultrafast lasers at 2 µm, including the first 1 GHz Ho:YAG oscillator and multiple ERC grants.
In STAY2ME, PULS is responsible for designing and building the GHz-burst amplifier system.

Crystal growth & optical components
Crytur is the integrated provider of opto-electonic solutions for science and hi-tech industrial applications and one of the world’s leading companies in synthetic crystal manufacturing and processing.
For STAY2ME, they grow laser crystals and manufactures all custom optical components — beam shapers, axicons, and focusing lenses.

Workstation design & integration
LASEA provides high-precision laser solutions for micromachining. From life-saving medical devices to aerospace components, watchmaking to semiconductors.
In the project, LASEA designs and builds the laser processing workstation, integrating galvo scanners, optics, and controls for 2 µm operation.

RAYVEN
Laser prototyping & dissemination
Founded in 2025 as a spin-off from RUB, RayVen commercialized 2.1 µm ultrafast lasers.
During the project, RayVen delivers the initial single-pulse 2.1 µm laser system to kick-start silicon processing experiments. They lead dissemination, the project website, and industry engagement.

An advisory board including semiconductor industry experts brings an industrial perspective on TSV requirements, guiding the consortium’s technical choices throughout the project.
